What is 2WayDoor?
Have you thought about why doors are sometimes frustratingly awkward to use? Do you take backwards steps and wait for the door to open? Trying to get through the door with a large load and having to put it down to pull the door open? How difficult is it to get through a normal door if you use a mobility aid such as a wheelchair?
The problem with conventional doors is that every other time the door opens against you in the direction you are walking. This means you have to take steps backwards while pulling the door open. As you pass through the doorway, you have to pull the door closed again behind you. Tricky, isn’t it?
Years ago, the inventor of 2WayDoor discovered the impracticality of traditional doors while living in a detached house with parents injured in a car accident. This required the use of assistive devices to get around and the inconvenience of using traditional, one-way doors became apparent. The problem was identified and a frenetic brainstorming process began to achieve a better and more accessible future. An idea that simply combined the better features of traditional doors. After nights of sleepless nights and brainstorming, the idea of a door that opens all the way forward was born – the 2waydoor.
